Housing portal opens arrow clothed

Once we process your enrollment fee, you’ll receive a RISD email account and instructions for logging in to our Housing Portal to complete your reservation. Your housing application can be completed through the portal and is due by June 1 (early decision students were asked to complete their housing application on or before January 22). If you are requesting a specific accommodation for medical reasons please complete the required form and contact Brittany Goodwin, Director of Disability Support & Academic Support, with questions. In your application you may describe your living preferences and seek out potential roommates. Look for email confirmation of your housing assignment by June 12.

All first- and second-year students are required to live on campus unless they receive a waiver for being married, over 21 years old by September 1 or for living with a parent or guardian within commuting distance. To request a waiver, please read more and complete the Housing Residency Requirement Waiver form.

Begin to ship your belongings for Summer EFS arrow clothed

Students participating in Summer Experimental and Foundation Studies should ship their items directly to RISD. Please check out the "For Transfer Students" section of the detailed instructions for new students provided by Mail Services.

RISD has partnered with Jones Storage to meet your storage needs for your belongings between the end of SEFS and the start of the fall semester.

During the first year of enrollment in the Dual Degree Program, all students reside in RISD housing. At RISD, all first-year students live together. In addition, Dual Degree Program students are housed together within the first-year buildings to provide an additional opportunity for mutual support.

Enrollment deposit deadline arrow clothed

Submit a nonrefundable enrollment deposit of $500 to reserve your space (this is applied to your first tuition bill). Please use our secure online site to pay your deposit by credit card or authorize a bank transfer from your checking or savings account via the link below. You’ll need to indicate your name, RISD student ID number and the semester you will enroll (as indicated in your acceptance letter). All future tuition bills and other fees can be paid at this site as well.

On-campus housing is flexible, safe and convenient and provides a great way to meet other students while learning more about all that RISD has to offer.

You will receive information about housing and log-in credentials for the online Housing Portal via your RISD email account. You will complete housing applications for Academic Year 2018–19 and, if applicable, Summer Foundations 2018. Your applications must be completed through the portal by June 5. RISD Health Services requires all new students to submit health forms. Please be aware that your registration is not considered complete until your completed and signed forms have been received by Health Services. Students who have not submitted completed health forms will not be able to receive their course schedule and begin attending classes.

Pre-Orientation Service Experience application release arrow clothed

First-year and transfer students may apply for the Pre-Orientation Service Experience (POSE), an intensive five-day program prior to New Student Orientation that fosters incoming student engagement with the community around campus. This program empowers you to use art and design to make a difference in the world and creates a foundation for your continued involvement in community service during your time at RISD.

Applications are reviewed during a 1-2 week period after the deadline and students will be notified of acceptance shortly thereafter. On average, 65-70% of applicants are accepted to the POSE program.

RISD Health Services requires all new students to submit health forms. BRDD students are also required to fill out and submit Brown's health forms to their Health Services office.

Brown|RISD Dual Degree students may use the health and counseling services of either institution, regardless of where the student resides. Students will pay Brown’s health services and health insurance fees.

  • Front view of your whole face alone
  • No hat or dark glasses
  • Taken within the last three months
  • JPEG format attachment

Please be prepared to present valid photo identification (license, passport, military ID etc.) at orientation check-in.

Students in the Brown|RISD Dual Degree program have access to the buildings, facilities and grounds at both schools, which is true for all undergraduate students at both institutions. Students will be issued ID cards from both schools that will reflect their status as Dual Degree Program students. Brown ID cards are to be obtained through Brown's Card Office.
